I had the pleasure of finding out what the gender is of our baby the other day. I was a little less happy with the results, even though I will be happy it's just healthy. Could it possibly be wrong? I am 16 weeks and I know my next ultrasound with my OBGYN will confirm or deny it, but could an elective 3d/4d ultrasound be wrong about the sex? Our tech wasn't 50% sure and she didn't have a hard time, she said it and showed us the reasoning. I am just in denial right now lol
Re: 3d/4d gender ultrasound possibly wrong?
Yup.....nothing is for sure until that baby comes out
All of this.
And yes, it can be wrong. Birth is the only way to be 100% positive.
1/12/13 DD was born
4/9/16 DS was born
9/17 CP
6/23/18 BFP EDD 3/4/19
Born via emergency c-section - 8lb, 19.75 in, 100% stubborn BFP Chart
8 cycles of unmedicated trying = BFP!! - EDD 1/10/18

I am sure there is a chance it could be wrong, nothing is 100%. We went at 18 weeks for a 3D gender reveal, and there is no doubt we are having a boy. It was pretty creepy, but we could see every part of the male genitalia.
BFP#1 -3/18/12- M/C 3/31/12,
BFP#2 -4/25/12, Beta#1 17dpo= 800, Beta#2 20dpo= 3800, Ethan James born 1-5-13
BFP#3- February 2015- natural miscarriage
BFP#4- June 2015- Ruptured ectopic, severe hemorrhage and loss of left tube on 7/10/2015
BFP#5- 12/18/15
A/S are during the time so that the techs can best see the organs (heart, etc), not the genitalia.
The elective u/s near me says that they can "guarantee 100% " the sex at 16 weeks, but I find that fishy.
Wait, did you mistype this? I am 50% sure that you're having a girl, and I didn't even need to see an u/s, lol.
You can also tell the gender of your baby by having an amniocentesis, but obviously, I would not suggest doing that unless medically necessary. So birth isn't just the only way to be 100% sure.
16 weeks is a little early, but is a better indicator than at the 1st tri screening (around 12-13 weeks). I'd wait until the next u/s you have scheduled for a confirmation.
