Mommas who've passed out

I remember reading a few weeks ago about some of the expectant mommas passing out. I had a terrible scare Tuesday night and passed out in the powder room taking out my contacts. My DH had to break down the door to get to me, injuring my arm and leg. The bruise on my arm is disgustingly huge and painful, I am going to the Ortho today to find out if its broken now that the swelling went down. My foot is feeling a bit better though.

At the ER, they did the x-rays to make sure nothing was broken, but warned me of the hard of the CT scan to check for blood clots or see why I passed out. I felt completely fine before and after passing out, and my vitals were fine. I opted not to have the CT. They aren't sure why I passed out.

When you passed out did you get the CT Scan? Did they give you a reason for passing out?

I am really hoping that I didn't break my elbow, because I am right handed, and I don't know how I will function for much longer without use of my right arm.

  • Sorry to hear you got hurt! I passed out like a month ago, but I landed on the couch. I didn't go to the hospital. I am almost positive it's because of low BP. I  did tell my midwife, and she told me to get up slowing, drink lots of water etc, and she ordered a blood test to check my iron levels. I didn't have a CT or anything like that, it's fairly common during pregnancy to pass out.

  • I didn't have a CT...they checked on baby (DD) via sono and my vitals showed that I had extremely low BP and blood sugar so they blamed that. I didn't have any other issues with that pregnancy as long as I ate every 2 hours. I almost passed out with this pregnancy, but caught it in enough time. I hadn't eaten in 4+ hours.
  • I passed out around 10 weeks and my OB said it is fairly common during pregnancy.  I may have gotten up too fast, or my blood pressure may have been low.  If the problem persisted they said they would do more testing, but since it never happened again I didn't worry about it.

  • I passed out when I was 11 weeks, the dr advised me that since I have had low blood pressure this time that it was most likely an issue with low BP and low Sugar. They just checked for baby hb, and were able to find it, so other than that dr advised that I should eat more frequent meals and that I need to get up slowly, and not push myself. Other than that no testing was done, and I haven't had any issues since.

  • This happened to me and the doctors said it was due to low BP and to drink a ton of fluids and eat more salt. They did x-rays but didn't feel that the risk of the CT to the baby was worth it.

It's a horrible and scary feeling, I hope you feel better soon!
