I've been induced in past deliveries, but was given pitocin through IV. I'm scheduled for induction on 8/21 (again) bc LO is still measuring rather large (no GD) but not sure by what method they will use, so this is interesting.
This is the first I've heard of this Rx, but it seems that amongst other things, it is used for induction as well - Here's info from WebMD HTH
If it were me... I would ask for Cervadil. It's actual use is designed for ripening the cervix. Plus it can be removed if hyperstimulation of the uterus occurs.
Cytotec was not designed for cervical ripening. It works, but that's not what it was created to do. Also, once it's in your system, there's no taking it out if hyperstimulation occurs. There have been plenty of women take it and be totally fine, but IMO I'd opt for other options.
GL and T&Ps for a smooth delivery! Just take it one contraction at a time, and remember to hydrate and breathe

I'm being induced tonight, with Misoprostol, which to my understanding, is the exact same thing as Cytotec. But I'm not sure if mine will be oral or vaginal. If it helps, a friend of mine told me yesterday she was induced with the oral Miso and she went straight into labor and didn't even need pitocin or to have her water broken. She did have an epidural, but she was never really trying to go natural. It was her first child. She was only 1.5cm when she arrived at hospital, had a half dose of Miso at 6pm and a full dose at 9pm and baby was born at 2am! I am less worried about it since she told me her story. I am already 3cm and soft, but only 50% effaced. I'm 41 weeks tomorrow.
I can't share any experience but I am being induced the same day. I hope it goes well for the both of us!
Hey, me too! I hope it goes well for both of you. What time are you supposed to go in? I'm supposed to call at 4pm Pacific time. Trying to figure out what I'll do to pass the time all day.
