Diaper changes

Diaper changes should be a new Olympic sport!  Holy heck these are getting increasingly difficult with such a wiggly baby! I know it's only going to get worse the older and stronger he gets. The hardest is when I pick his feet up and his whole body lifts and twists!  Toys used to be able to distract him for a few minutes but not so much any more. He just wants to crawl and go. No time for this diaper changing business. Fun times!

Re: Diaper changes

  • Add screaming crying to our diaper changes on top of the twisting butt lifting while holding his feet thing you mention. I've resorted to no clothes. Once the diaper is on I have no energy to fight snaps, zippers or pulling arms through holes. Last night DH was like, "What are we going to do when he has to wear clothes?". I suggested moving to Hawaii. Perfect solution IMO.

  • Ditto. Being put down on the change table = way too far away from mama!

I have a few toys that only come out for changes. This helps us. A lot.

(Good tip for potty training - toys to hold while you go)

  • Twisting while I was holding her feet is when the changing pad moved to the floor. Toys aren't very distracting, but she will usually play with her own pants/skirt, an extra diapy or something long enough for me to get her snapped.

  • Same here. T just wants to crawl and pull himself up to his knees. He cooperates more in the morning than in the evening. Toys and extra diapers aren't working as well as they used to. There have been several nights he has gone to bed without Jammie's. Thank goodness it's hot right now. I would hate to see what it would be like if he had to wear warm clothes to bed.
  • Ughhhh tell me about it. Not to mention the headache if she poops or gets diaper rash cream everywhere.

  • H was never a fan of diaper changes, but he hates them now because of this.  I can hear him pleading with E to cooperate and stop twisting.  We also have a toy that only comes out for diaper changes (one upstairs, one downstairs) so that helps.  Upstairs is worse because he wants to get into all the stuff that is around the diaper changing station, like wipes, extra diapers, thermometer, lotion, diaper rash cream, etc.
