Since earlier births and milk supply can sometimes be issues with multiples, I would look at renting a hospital grade pump for the first month, and then seeing if you want to continue to rent or if a double electric pump (like a Medela PISA) will meet your needs.

  • I loved and never had any issues with my medela pump in style. It's a dual electronic pump. I also read on here to cut two holes in the nipple part of a sports bra for a holder and it was a life saver.

This... I wouldn't buy a pump ahead of time if I were you. That said, I love my Medela Freestyle.

  • Ameda Purely Yours. I went back to work when my son was almost 7 months old. The pump allowed me to continue feeding him bm only for his entire first year.

This is great advice for you. I loved my Medela Pump In Style, but my milk supply was never the best, and I only had one. It wasn't the pump's fault, and it's a great pump, but I probably needed a hospital grade.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours and never had any problems with it. The Medela PISA, though I have no experience with it, seems to be a huge favorite. You probably can't go wrong with either of those.

  • I am getting a Medela Swing (I think it's called). I had their most basic electric model last time and ended up exclusively pumping for a while and broke it! It was not made to be used that often, I was told. With twins I might look at the double electric!

  • With twins, if you do choose to purchase a pump of your own (perhaps after taking the very good advice of PPs to rent a hospital grade pump), I would definitely recommend getting a double pump.  Don't even waste your time with a single.

Good luck!!  You can do this :)
