NEWS:

Kadyra spent some time in the hospital last week for bleeding. Please keep her and LO in your thoughts and prayers. Are you home now?? Cara03 also spent some time in L&D for contractions, clerage still holding up, also received her first 17p shot and they are having a boy! Congratulations! Damabo80 updated that she's still pregnant (33 weeks and still counting). She's being checked weekly w/ biophysical U/S and for both pre-e/hellp. What wonderful news.

Re: Pregnant (& TTC) after a Preemie check in 8/8/12

  • imagelucy460:
I replied to a few threads in the update last week, but I don't think I ever updated -- whoops. I did have an U/S last week and baby looks nice and healthy and is measuring right on track. I go back for a fetal echo tomorrow (Thursday). LO has been moving around like crazy in there. I didn't feel DS this early at all. Maybe it's because this time the placenta is right in the back? I have decided not to switch OB practices. And I've recently started giving serious though to having an unmedicated birth. I would never have anticipated that, but somehow it feels like a good way to try to have a completely different birth experience than last time, where I was so drugged up (epi, stadol, mag sulfate) that I barely remember anything. Obviously if I get pre-e again, then I know the mag sulfate isn't negotiable, and I do want to be safe and alive. But I"m considering foregoing the pain meds. We'll see. Sorry for the novel

My second birth was unmedicated, although I was hoping for at least an epi. I didn't have pre-e the second time, so no mag salfate (yay). I did in fact get stadol and that was a nasty combined w/ambien. Obviously thinking about it now, I'm happy that I didn't get the epi and that was able to get up almost immediately to head to the NICU to see my DD.

  • I came home from the hospital Thursday night. Stopped bleeding all together by Monday. Laying in bed, but I got the green light to lay on my pool float twice a week so I did that today. Otherwise, much less drama this week, thank God. Oh and we got our pertussis vaccines yesterday. Boring. But I'll take that any day over last week's scare!

Love that you've been given the green light to lay in the pool, awesome! Keep up the good work baking that LO. Thanks for checking in.

  • Good news: No more contractions in the past week!

Bad news: My emotional state has been SUCH a rollercoaster. At times I am so, so scared for what could happen this pregnancy. At other times I am completely calm and peaceful. I just wish I could maintain that. I've had so many tears the last 24 hours. It doesn't help that my OB (whom I love normally) keeps saying how this is the critical period for my cervix, until 24 weeks. Ugh... I don't need that reminder.

So glad to hear everyone else's updates. It is so nice not being alone in this pregnant after preemie journey.

  • I had my DS on 8/3 which was 39w2d!  He was healthy and got to come home with us right away. Such a different experience than DD in the nicu. We feel so blessed to have had a full term baby after everything with our first and the preterm scares/bed rest with this pregnancy. Good luck to all the other mamas pregnant after preemies!

  • I haven't been around much because my LO is a very busy li'l man these days and is taking up all my time!

I am 9 weeks 3 days pregnant, but I still am terrified I will have a miscarriage. This morning, I had about an hour of severe cramping... like, 10x worse than AF cramps... it reminded me of my first m/c so I was afraid that's what was happening. The cramps stopped and I haven't had any sign of bleeding/spotting, so I guess we'll see. I don't feel pregnant in the slightest (but, I didn't with Jack, either).

I've been so worried about a miscarriage that I haven't even started to worry about a second premature birth yet... but my BP is already high this time... praying that I won't have to deliver any earlier and might hang on until at least 34 weeks this time if not longer!
