Headache help

Anyone have a good remedy for headaches? Even Tylenol won't get rid of this one. I've had it for two days now.

  • I have gotten a couple of headaches that lasted 2-3 days. The only thing that helped was a can of Coke.

  • My doctor has me on fiurecet, reglan, and compazine as needed. None of them worked pre-pregnancy but they tend to take the edge off now. I take them with a coke.

    Also Magnesium helps too.

  • I get migraines and I drink a cup of coffee take two Tylenol and sleep for about an hour or two. That usually takes the edge off so that I can function.

  • Tylenol, a benadryl, and a small drink that contains caffine.

This!  Except instead of coffee I have a glass of pop (with caffine).  This usually gets rid of the migraine for me.

  • Ive been getting one every afternoon too. I find an ice pack works best. Ill have to try drinking some coffee but it makes me so jittery since I cut back.

  • Have you tried peppermint oil? It's fairly cheap and if you rub it on your temples it can help a lot with mild headaches before they get too bad. Ice on the base of your neck is another one that helps, just don't leave it on too long!

  • This is what I have tried, in order of effectiveness:

    1) Magnesium supplements, my NP prescribed 400 mg magnesium oxide. This is preventative but it took less than 36 hours to curb a multi-day migraine.

    2) curing my UTI. Doesn't apply to everyone but if you are getting up 3+ times a night in the 2nd trimester and you have any other UTI symptoms check with your doctor just in case. Uninterrupted sleep helps sooo much (I still get up once).

    3) Benedryl or Unisom before bed. Helps me stay in a deeper sleep.

    4) cold pack on head, especially before bed.

    5) Vick's vapor rub on my temples, I do this as often as I feel like it.

    6) a cup of coffee or a latte.

I also have a prescription but it's a Cat C drug so it's only for migraine emergencies (like if I'm vomitting and becoming dehydrated). I took it only once, it did work.

  • Thanks everyone. I'm going to try drinking something with caffeine and an ice pack. I never thought about caffeine but I believe that's one of the ingredients in Advil ( I could be wrong). I'll try anything at this point.

  • *gatorade + tylenol + single espresso (used to take a double pre-pregnancy)

*a very cold compress, lately that has been a square bottle of gin i stored in the freezer so it holds it's chill for a long time

*migrastick (an herbal oil preparation that I apply on the forehead, temples, and under the nose)

    *hot/cold shower

*gua sha therapy, a traditional chinese medicine therapy that leaves bruises but was the only thing that physically stopped a migraine for me

****** and...a jimmyjane "form 2" vibrator...blasts the pain away sometimes only temporarily but still
