Let's talk about poop

I'm not even putting TMI in the title because either you want to open this post and talk about poop or not. Stick out tongue

I've noticed more and more posts lately about not being able to poop and thankfully I don't have that problem at all. I'm pretty regular and going daily. My issue is how big they are! I feel like I'm pooping out this:image

Is this just part of pregnancy or is something seriously wrong with me?

Re: Let's talk about poop

  • I am on the every two days plan and yep they are not exactly comfortable. Did get those flushable wipes which seem to be a little more gentle on my sensitive tushy.

  • If I stick with my fiber pills, which I'm terrible about doing, I go more regularly. If not, its like pooping needles.
  • Ok I just have to ask, is that Minesweeper?!? hahaha!!

No but if you really want to talk about poop, when we were travelling (and therefore sitting) a lot at the beginning of the summer, I had a really, um, tough time.  I drank some prune juice though and that really took care of it.  Since then, I'm afraid I typically have the opposite problem, but that's pretty normal for me actually.  I mentioned it to my dr. and she didn't seem too concerned.

  • I go pretty regularly, but I have found them to be larger and more painful. I thought it was a combination of eating more and digesting slowly so now they're more dense. I could be wrong... =)

    I second these!!!!

I have a GI problem so I was already a slow pottier, but now it's ridiculous. I take Benefiber daily, plus trying to eat more veggies and drink more water than I thought possible to help, but it's definitely difficult. I've had a lot of the big D, unfortunately which is normal with my medical condition. Doc keeps saying it will get better, but it remains to be seen. Those wipes are a godsend for sure. So is Benefiber!

So more fiber should help with the massive and painful poops? Is Benefiber that stuff you put in water and then drink it? How does it taste? I'm really getting sick of feeling like I'm pooping out a ball with a million metal spikes so I'm willing to try whatever will help with that!

Yes, it helps you go more, loosens the stool.

imageThis is what I use. It blends into whatever you're drinking and you can't taste or see it. I drink it with water usually and it has no taste. You can stick a teaspoon on your breakfast cereal or in your big water bottle for the day. I usually do one teaspoon in the morning, then if I'm still constipated, I'll do another before bed and usually I go first thing in the morning. And I'm not regular AT ALL. But it works. You might experience some nasty gas with it at first, sometimes I still do if I've been drinking water and going. I keep Tums with me just in case!

I just got some today and am drinking it now. So tired of this pain.

Just go slow. Only do a teaspoon at first so you can ease into it and not end up with bad gas pains. I made that mistake at first.

  • I was having the painful poops so I got some Metamucil.  That has helped 10 fold!  I am going at least once a day and it doesn't hurt.

  • Thankfully my poop seems to be the one thing that is fairly normal.  Although I do go more often.  Although when I travel, that's another story.  Try being in Greece and attempting to find stool softener.  Not happening.  I had to eat 10 plums in one sitting just to pass a quarter sized turd.

  • Ohh man, I struggle with all of the above.

I've always had a hard time going regularly, even prior to pregnancy. Since pregnancy, it's even worse. I'm lucky if I get one in once a week. Then, when I do poop, it's painful - your mindsweeper WRECKING ball sums it up pretty well.

I've been taking one Colace a day, which my doctor recommended. It seemed to help at first, but not so much anymore. Maybe I should try the Metamucil.

  • I think baby has made me regular. Prior to pregnancy I was constipated a lot and went several days without a poop. But now I go every day sometimes twice. The first trimester I had diarrhea non stop insteead of vomitting. So glad that went away!! But yes mine are painful sometimes Super Angry
