how much water? clicky poll.

Re: how much water? clicky poll.

  • At 6 months the ped said we could offer her 4oz and if she drank that all up she could have a little more. He said he's never met a baby how would rather have water than nursing and that I didn't have to worry about he choosing a sippy over breastmilk or formula. She has never finished 4 ounces but that's what I offer her.

  • Our pedi said no more than 5 oz per day.

DS has little interest in the water. He likes to throw the sippy cup around but barely drinks 1 oz a day. I offer it at each of his "meals". I only push it when we're outside.

  • I voted 0-1oz, but it's zero. My pedi said the baby doesn't need any water. Also, unless we're outside in the heat for a significant time period, not to worry about giving her any. I want her to learn to use a glass though, so I might staring giving her some at meals.

  • I voted 0-1, but only because DS likes to suck on his bath toys.  haha

His pedi said he doesn't need it, but if we really wanted we could offer him an ounce a day.  We haven't.

  • We mostly offer the sippy cup just for practice putting it to her mouth, and holding it. She sometimes drinks a little. I hold it and actually let her drink some when we are outside for a while, like at the pool.

  • My LO's BMI is in the 2nd %ile, so I don't do water. He only drinks breast milk.

This could describe my kid! She always finishes her water. She also prefers it ice cold :)

  • T will suck the water out of a washcloth and will get a little out of his sippy if I hold it. I give him the cup at his dinner pur?e but it often ends up being thrown over his shoulder.
  • I don't give water separately.  I add an extra 1/2 to 1 oz of water to each bottle she takes, excluding the before bed bottle.  It helps her poop.
