Flu Shot?

We just got an e-mail at my work stating when the flu shot would be offered.  THe only other time I got a flu shot was when I was pregnant with DD and my MIL was going through chemo treatments and anyone around her had to have the shot.

 I was more sick that year that any other year....so I am debating on whether to get it again or not?

 

What are you going to do?

IF I get it, I'll get it in the hospital after the baby is born... I got them a couple of times a few years back but my family now has a history of adverse reactions so I haven't gotten it in several years. Something to talk about with my doctor...

I will be getting the flu shot this year, but I also work in health care and get exposed on a regular basis.

I always get it anyhow but definitely especially when pg. And even MORE so because the baby will be born during cold and flu season. Getting the shot while pg will also pass on protection to the baby.

Nice for me, DH is a pharmacist and administers them so he will just do it for me at home

I will also be getting the Flu Shot. I work in a hospital so exposure is high with me!

I get it every year and have never had a problem. I got it when pregnant with DD and will do it again with this one.

My friend who is a doctor gets them and she is 21 weeks pregnant right now, so that's enough to convince me to get it while pregnant. I usually get one every year and I haven't had any reactions.

The only time I have gotten a flu shot was last time I was pregnant, but I was also working in a school at the time. This time around I'm not working so I won't have as much exposure so I'm not sure if I will or not.

I have never gotten the flu shot (Ive never even had the flu as an adult), but I will because I'm pregnant.

I get one every year and will again this year. My OB offers them so I will get one at my appointment in Aug or Sept.

I will not be getting the flu shot.  I've gotten the shot 3 times, and each year that I got the shot was the year that I got the flu.  DH always gets his (he works in an office), but I refuse.

I got one last year through husband's work, but I'm hesitant this year since I'm not teaching as much. Not sure. I'll have to ask the midwife what she thinks.

This. I just responded on another post that I'm involved in a study looking at seasonal vaccination exposure in pregnancy. It's out of UC San Diego with a group called OTIS. In general, they have really great info on any exposures during pregnancy. Check it out.

I started getting the flu shot fours years ago when I was pg with DS. My OB was insistent! It has never made me ill, and I've been the healthiest I've been since that time. I make DS and DH get it every year, none of them have reactions from it, and both guys are very healthy.

Probably will this year.  I am not real big on getting it but due to the timing of LO being born this time around I think I should.  DH always gets his at work...he works in a hospital.  Last time I was preggo with DD H1N1 was huge and my OB office gave us those.

I've never had one and will just take my chances again this year.  DH has gotten one several times and always gets sick, and decided he'll skip it this year too - hopefully the bugs pass us by.

This is exactly what happens with me! Every single time I have gotten the shot I have gotten the flu when I do not get it I do not.

My doctor recommends it while PG. so I will be getting it again.

I have never had a flu shot, and I have not had the flu since I was a child. No flu shot here.

I will definitely get it and do every year. I'm an infectious disease epidemiologist, so for me it's a no-brainer, especially being pregnant as pregnant women suffer some of the worst and saddest complications from flu. There's a new strain of swine flu circulating this year too. Ds will also be vaccinated.
