Total FTM question--when they're newborns and still sleeping swaddled, what else do they wear at night? A sleeper plus a swaddle seems like way too much. Is it? Just a onesie? Something else?

We'll probably do a onesie under a swaddle sack. You should be able to figure out if that's warm enough for your LO. If not, you can always add a warmer outfit under the swaddler or add a sleep sack.
Mine just wear tshirts, socks and the swaddle blankets until their cord falls off. Less things for it to get caught on. If you keep your house on the cooler side a sleeper might not be so bad.

We will probably do just a t-shirt/onesie and socks underneath the swaddle. The house we are moving into has no air conditioning so I don't want him getting overheated. This is all assuming it will still be grossly hot come September.
Remember that babies don't have blankets in their bed. So while you are in your pj's and under a sheet and blanket, are you too hot? We used cotton sleepers or gowns while swaddled.
It seems these last few years that in CA summer doesn't really start until August and September is the hottest. So any STMs do just the swaddler? I can imagine wearing a sheet even...I don't want my little guy to overheat.
Re: What do they sleep in when they're fresh out?
DD slept in a sleeper + a sleep sack.
