I normally am such a planner, but for some reason am in no hurry to start the nursery. We have two spare bedrooms, either of which will work for the baby's room, but aside from throwing color ideas around I have done nothing. Just me?
I will be 18 weeks on Wednesday, so maybe it's still a tad early?
Re: Anyone else waiting to start nursery?
We have started to plan but have not purchased anything for baby yet. We have started to look at furniture and I think I know what we want but we just haven't made any progress yet in buying or ordering. We plan to order furniture from DirectBuy and it can take several weeks sometimes as much as 10 weeks for it to come in. I feel like we should order sooner rather than later just in case.
MIL was up this weekend and asking if I planned to paint for baby and I really don't. We just moved into a brand new house and all the walls are nicely painted and I see no reason to paint over it. I think we can do a lot by adding pictures and items to the room for baby.

This. Doesn't mean I'm not wasting lots of time online dreaming and planning, though!
We are also thinking baby will be in our room for 6 months, as well.
DH and I will be visiting in-laws in September and MIL has already stated she wants to buy crib. Something tells me we will be shopping then.
I've been in a baby mood lately, we actually painted the nursery and assembled the cribs/changing table this weekend. I wanted it put together before my shower (9/1). We'll gradually decorate it over the next two months. I wanted the big things done though.
There is plenty of time so I wouldn't sweat it, it's better to do it when you're in the mood to do it, than to make yourself do it when you're not - then it'll feel like a chore and won't be as fun.
DH and I went and looked at cribs one day, just to get some ideas, but other than that the two of us haven't done anything. One of my firends is Team Green and due in November and this weekend they put their crib together and the rooms been painted - that made me more curious so I started looking and some more options online, but DH won't decide on anything until after out A/S scan (Aug 30th). Then it's going to be go go go time!
I haven't really spent so much time even thinking about it all. I've been so nervous about the pregnancy that I don't think I'll relax until after the anatomy scan. Plus we have so much work to do on the ENTIRE house that it's hard to concentrate on just the baby room.
Maybe I'll start looking at ideas..
This. We will be PCSing when little one is 3 months old, so until then we will all be in a one bedroom. However, that said, when we get to our next place i am absolutely doing a nursery. Even though LO will be sleeping with us for probably 6 months.

To set up the baby's room, we have to move a futon, desk and boxes from our third floor condo out to a truck and take that to our public storage space so...we're waiting until it's a little less hot to get the room cleaned out, let alone buy/set up furniture and decorate. My goal is to have the room cleaned out by September and use Oct-Dec. to really do the nursery.

Since we are team green, we are waiting to really do a lot in the nursery. Baby will be in our room for at least a few months so I am in no hurry to get everything done in the nursery. We are re-doing our 3rd bedroom for DS and moving him by Christmas. After that we will order the new nursery furniture (DS is staying in his covertable crib) and set it up. We will wait until after baby arrives to settle on theme and paint if we need to.

We are not in a huge hurry. It will be gender specific so we can't do anything for 3 more weeks anyway. Even then, we won't need a nursery for quite awhile.
Our office/guest room/catch all room will become the nursery and I should probably start cleaning it out. A couple weeks ago I moved everything out of the closet so I can start storing the hand me downs and small gifts that we have received, but now all of that stuff is just scattered across the room.

I was thinking this, but then I saw several people on the weekly check-in talking about working on the nursery. It had me wondering if I had missed starting the timeline!
I actually want to get it done pretty early. We have a ton of work to do on the rest of our house, so I'd like to get the nursery out of the way. We are getting an Ikea crib, new ceiling fan & rug, but have everything else from DD.
The large canvas print I ordered is coming Wednesday. We are going to pick a paint color this week. I'd like to do something dark and subdued. I'd also like it to be gender less, so I want to pick it our before our a/s the 16th.
DD's room is a bold indigo/purple color that I love, but I want to go a different direction w this one. Her's: https://www.86nit.com/2010/02/nursery.html

Finding out the sex in 2.5 weeks, and then we'll get going. I know I want the same paint color as DD's room for continuity on our second floor.
Then I need to figure out a rocker/changing table/dresser. As for a crib, our DD will be 4 months away from turning 2 years old when baby arrives, so we are going to borrow my parents' brand new crib to get us over that hurdle and let her stay in a crib until she's ready to transition to a "big girl bed". I don't want to buy a crib for 4 months or a little longer.
I didn't get started on my nursery with my first baby until I was 20 weeks and it worked out fine timing wise. I need a sex and a name in my head before I can plan the look and feel of the room. I was very proud of my nursery last time, because it all came together very beautifully and cohesively, but it was a little Craigs List, a little Buy Buy Baby, a little Amazon, a little Etsy, a little Walmart, a little Target, and some DIY. Not sets, no matchy matchy, just pretty page pink-yellow-white-and-green all coming together.
That has been us as well. Also, you are ahead of me. We have bought a onesie. We do have the names chosen, but that's about it. I have spent more time researching BF, clothing diapering, labor, etc.
Additionally, I am a graduate student and work full time, so school has preoccupied a good bit of my free time.
Don't worry about not being in a hurry to start the nursery. In fact, if you are planning on having a baby shower, you may wanna wait to see what you receive from your shower registry before you buy the rest.
I find out my baby's sex on the 24th, and I plan to IMMEDIATELY go shopping for the items I need. I don't wanna ask my shower guests for the big ticket items, and Im anxious to get a start on the room.
