Or something along the lines of joy. DD's name is Jovie and has a hazy background, but everything I've found points to it refering to joy and joviality. We've had the hardest time coming up with names for this upcoming DS, but I like the idea of choosing another joy-related name. Here are a few ideas I've seen that I will be sharing with DH.
DD announced she wants to name baby brother Isaac which does mean "he laughs" DH and I neither love nor hate it, and it definitely fits the joy-ish requirement. So for now I guess it goes on the list of possibilities. Here we go:
Marnin
Gil
Tate
Whelan
Ellery
Fane
Arnan
Any thoughts on these or any great additions to the list I should know about? I'm really hoping this gives us some direction because we're 7 weeks from EDD and completely drawing blanks on names.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Help finding boy name meaning "joy"
I like Isaac the best of the names you have listed. It's funny--my brother's middle name is Isaac for the same reason; my first name means laughter and my parents wanted something with the same meaning.
ETA: I love Jovie! It would have been a middle name contender for us if our baby was a girl.
Oh! I like Asher.
Thanks for the compliments on Jovie. I really wanted to name her Ruby, but DH had a bad name association. I'm happy now that we went with Jovie. It definitely fits her.
Ronen (Hebrew) means joy: https://www.behindthename.com/name/ronen
Blythe (English) means cheer: https://www.behindthename.com/name/blythe
If you go to Behind the Name and select meanings next to the search box you can search through several names.
Good Luck!
Isaac is a great name.
I also really like Asher.
Yep- Think Feliz Navidad for happy/merry Christmas. Felix comes from the same root word.
My favorite is ANAYANSI. It means "the key to happiness".
