bonding with baby now

I love feeling him move around and rubbing my belly, hoping he can feel but sometimes I feel guilty like I am not doing enough. My friend had this belt she wore that pumped music and beats to help stimuilate the babe, and I've heard that signing or dancing is good. What are you doing to help bond and develop your little one?

Re: bonding with baby now

  • its kind of silly but i play the piano for my baby it feels like she is dancing to the music. she can keep the beat too which i think is funny.

  • I read to the baby, we play music, I turn the TV on telemundo so he can hear Spanish (Paternal family speaks Spanish), every day my husband talks to the baby and says "this is Daddy talking" which makes me laugh. I give my belly gentle massages, sometimes I sing. I don't really dance because I find I get off balance a lot easier lately and I don't want to fall over!  I also try to do things that put me in a good mood, watch funny shows or comedy because I read an article that talks about how a pregnant woman's mood affects the growing baby. I tend to sign a lot of educational stuff, the alphabet song, that song about where is ring finger (i don't know what it is called though), the one about the bones being connected to each other. Just a lot of random stuff, Im not sure how much it helps. Oh and I tell the dog that baby Donovan is in my belly and sometimes she licks or lays her head on my stomach.

  • I have little conversations with him, and I read him books. I also started a little journal and I write him letters in it. I'll keep doing it as he gets older, and someday I'll give it to him. I'm trying to get DH to write in it too, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

  • Ummm... nothing really. I like to lay down and feel baby move, but that's about it. Your baby and your bond with baby will be just fine even if you don't walk around talking to your bump.

This. Plus, half of the time I forget that I'm pregnant anyway. I only really remember when I'm putting on clothes or if she kicks. Besides that, I don't even notice or do anything special.

    Ditto both of these.

Glad I'm not the only one. I kind of felt like a slacker for not doing all the little things.

This is my DH, too, except he says "Turkey, can you hear me? This is your faaather speaking..." in kind of a low and slow Darth Vader voice. I have no idea what he's doing, but it's absolutely hilarious to me haha. Such a goofball.

  • I have family pressuring me to start talking and singing to my baby girl. Doing those things would just feel really awkward and weird for me, so I don't. I figure she hears me talking every day, so I know she knows my voice. I'm sure we'll have no trouble bonding once she's born.
