Hi, We're having our baby in October and I'm searching for a photographer! We live in Owings Mills which is north of Baltimore, but I work in Columbia so anywhere around those areas are fine. We'd like to take pics right at the hospital... has anyone had that done? How soon do you take pictures of your newborn? I want to capture every moment!
Re: Newborn & family photographer
We had the photographer at the hospital do pictures of our son. At GBMC they have professional photographers come in and do a mini-session right in your room. They took about 6-8 poses (multiple shots of each pose) and then we got to pick what, if any, we wanted to buy. We ended up buying the CD of all the photos. We did them the morning that we were getting released. They offered to do them sooner, but I wanted to have them done in his going home outfit.
We also had Jen Lowe come to our home and do a full newborn & family photography session when our son was about 2 weeks old. In this set of pictures it was our entire family. It would have been really hard to wrangle our 2 year old daughter into pictures at the hospital.
I am glad we went ahead and did both the hospital pictures and the Newborn session at 2 weeks. It is amazing to see how much our son changed during those forst couple of weeks.
We purchased a few images from the photographer on staff at GBMC too, she photographed our little one on the pillows in the hospital room.
However, we also wanted a more thorough session, so we went with Courtney Anton Photography for an in home session too. She did a really wonderful job and we were over the moon about the images we received.
