Two Under 2

double stroller vs. sit & stand ?

hello ! I figured this would be the best place to post !

So when BB#2 is born, DS will be 26 months old.
I know it's still early, but I've been looking at either a double stroller or a sit and stand to replace our single stroller.
Is 26 months too young for the standing part of the sit and stand ?? I just wouldn't wanna get a full double stroller if DS1 isn't going to be in it for long.
What's the pros and cons of either ??
Any experiences/input is appreciated !
Thanks :)

What kind of stroller do you have now? Can you get a board that will attach to it and make it your own "sit and stand". We used a double regularly until June, then we got a board for out old stroller. My daughter pretty much walks all the time (she doesn't really like the board). Under 24 months I suggest a double for many families, particularly if they don't like to baby wear. At 24-30 months it is a toss up. If your older kid is 2.5 you probably don't need a double most days unless you run or walk long distances.

Overall I think a lot will depend on your lifestyle (use stroller a lot, a little), your kid (a runner vs. not), and your budget. That is why I suggest a board to start. They're about $40. If it doesn't work then you can buy a double.

A board ?? I just googled that & Never even heard of it before - great, another option!! ;) Just teasing.
Thanks for the info ! :)

  • We have the Baby Trend Sit N Stand double stroller.  It is a double stroller, but the back seat can be removed and then it becomes a Sit N Stand.  I love it!

I've read that 2.5 is about the youngest age that does well with a Sit N Stand.  My 24 month old definitely still needs to just be strapped into the stroller.  We'll remove the second seat when he's older and we feel he's ready for the bench seat.

  • We have the graco ready2grow sit n stand which also has the removable back seat.  I love it.  My daughter (2.5) is old enough to use the stand option, but she likes the new stroller enough that the seat doesn't get pulled off much.

  • My children are closer in age, so I opted for a double stroller and not a sit and stand. FWIW my DS is now 2.5 having him strapped in a stroller is still almost always necessary.  I'm sure he would love a sit and stand, but I doubt he would be able to resist jumping off and on and that would make things difficult.

  • I vote wait until your baby gets here before purchasing either so you can see where your child is at that point.

By the age of two we ditched the double stroller because DS could (and needed) to walk everywhere and was well behaved enough to not take off. You never know how your child will be at 26 months until you get there.

  • We were having the same conversation.  I don't think a double stroller will work for our daughter since she's very independent and wants her freedom.  I like the option of sitting when she wants to but also being able to stand and see when it's a little dangerous for her to walk freely is great.  We are seriously looking into the Joovy Ergo Caboose.

They make less expensive models but with the AZ sun has a larger canopy.  It also takes our car seat and looks like it has tons of storage under it.
