January 2013 Moms

F/u to underwear, let's talk bras.

Anyone else can't wear them now too?

I was this way with DD too. I'm a thin, small chested person with a giant rib cage. I look like a boy in a swimsuit.

Anyway, my rib cage and braline is extremely sensitive. It bugs me so much I can't wear a bra or even empirewaist clothes which is like 75 of maternity dresses tops. Last PG it wasn't bad because I was wearing winter layers. This time, I'm about to buy some pasties to wear under my tank tops!

  • No sorry. But I have to comment on the underwear thing...I had a c section with DS and could not wear regular underwear afterwards for a while because I woul fall right near my incision and bother it. So it was then I got maternity underwear. I am not sure what other hospitals use but those white mesh underwear are absolutely wonderful and I took as many as I could to wear postpartum!,

  • It's not skin sensitivity really, more muscle/tissue/organ. Any pressure below my breasts is super uncomfortable. I even tried adding 2 extenders to a bra and still couldn't take it!

Have you looked into something like this?

Sorry I don't know how to make it clicky on the iPad.

I have found that it doesn't put any pressure at all on my rib cage but still gives me some support.

Thanks! Maybe I'll hit up the store and try it. If I can't find anything, I'm going to buy a bunch of camisoles and cut them off just so I'm not so nipple-tastic all the time.

  • There are days that I just can't stand a bra. As a 36H, it isn't an option to go with nothing. I pull a belly band up around my boobs for a little support and the smoothing effect- without the squishing.

When I do wear a bra, I find the Aah Bra or Genie Bra to be the most comfortable. I got mine at BBB. Two for $20.

  • Can you try something without underwire? I've got D's so I ALWAYS wear underwire Smile But supposedly Hanro makes really comfy bras that are more "natural" and don't feel like you're wearing anything.

  • Thanks ladies!

And now I feel like a huge weirdo being the only one with this issue so bad!

This is me too. I have been wearing stretchy sports bras for a few months now. I am thin and short and usually wear a 32. I do have bigger boobs. Started out a 32 D and now I am wearing a 34 DD. I know exactly what pressure you are talking about. It almost hurts or is uncomfortable right? Thats I why I switched to stretchy sports bras or bras that were stretchy with no under wire. Hope that helps!

  • Part of my unpopular opinion today was that bras are for out of the house only. Unless I am going to be in an out all day or be seeing other people, it comes off when I get home. As a matter of fact, I am taking it off right now! However, this isn't a pregnancy thing. I gist find them annoying in general. And just for the record, I am a 36C pre pregnancy, about the same now, and up about a cup size while nursing.

  • Pre-pregnancy I was a 34D now I'm a 36E there have been days that I do not wear a bra at all, due to discomfort. My mom got me this band thing not sure what it's called but I've taken to wearing it. Doesn't really support but does make things look smoother.

  • To ladies inspired me to go look for a solution. My Gap doesn't carry bras anymore, so I struck out there.

I did go over to JCPenney and think I found the perfect solution!

They have these bralettes with cups in them.  Stretchy but not too tight (I got XL) and the molded cups are a must for me because I don't need support as much as I need nipple guards.

$10! They have better colors, but this link shows the style best:

  • Here's a pic. It's smaller and straps not so far in in person.
