Gender Reveal

Im 17 wks and have my ultrasound in 2 weeks. Also in 2 weeks it is my 21st bday. I plan on having a party with my friends and family and want to reveal the gender at my party. 

 

My mom thought about the idea of having a cake that has white frosting and the cake itself is blue or pink so when I cut into it people figure out the gender. Any other ideas?

We are planning on doing this. The other two ideas that we are thinking about is opening a box full of balloons (pink or blue) at the party. I also thought about telling our two grandmothers (mine and my DH's) by having them open up two presents with the clothes for that gender in there. We might do the grandma thing privately with them because I know they would get a kick out of being the first to know and then immediately after sharing the news with everyone else by maybe using a cake with pink or blue batter.

I think that is what everyone does anymore lol what if you don't et to find out the gender?

I love it!! It's going to be so fun, I can't believe we're all starting to find out the genders of our babies!!

I was going to do the cake thing but we find out the day after our families leave town so there's no one but us to enjoy the cake!

We had a family party for our son where I made a blue cake and frosted it white. Since DH and I already knew it was a boy we had our moms cut the cake together, we got some great pictures.

We already know the gender but at our family BBQ in a few weeks we are going to pass out cupcakes to everyone. One will have blue filling. The lucky person who gets that cupcake will get to announce it to the whole group.

We thought this was a good idea. That way it is sort of a game.
