Any good ideas?

Dh and I are in the beginning stages of TTC for #2.  We really want a boy... With that being said, any good ideas, or superstitions/wives tales on how to conceive a boy? My MIL swears that if in the first 2 days BEFORE ovulation you have sex, you will havea boy because they are "the fasted swimmers" because they only linger around for a day or two, while the "girl" sperms are long lasting...

 

Any takers???

Something like what your MIL said and things like Shettles work "correctly" about 50% of the time

Have sex and see what happens, that's about all you can do.  Google will give you all kinds of sh!t to try, but that doesn't mean that you will have a boy.

for a boy, you want to have sex 1-2 days before ovulation, and girls 3-5 days before ovulation. male swimmers are faster but die quicker, whereas female sperm swim slower, but live longer

but there is no guarantee. and after a few months of TTC with no success, you wont really care about what sex you get.

I just read the Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant, and the author claims the Shettles Method is incorrect, and that actually the opposite timing is true - the closer sex is to ovulation, the more likely it results in a girl. 

I'm more likely to believe it's a 50/50 chance!

• eat more meat ? the redder the better.
• Stick with salty snacks such as pretzels and chips.
• Dads-to-be: Stock up on soda, especially cola drinks
• Lie down after sex and stay there for a while. Supposedly that gives the boy sperm a chance to beat the girl sperm to the egg.
• Make love standing up
• Try the rear-entry position.
• Focus on his pleasure ? if the male partner climaxes first, supposedly you're guaranteed a boy.
• Give in to seduction ? if the man is the one to suggest some baby-making, you'll get a boy.
• Gals, sleep to the left of your partner

Here's what I honestly think: it's all crap and I guess have sex and hope you get a boy. 

 

Minus all the cola drinking, if this is the case.... I'm going to have a boy.

WOW, relax, I made a typing mistake.  I meant 2 days before you ovulate, and I'm going to hazard a guess, that the PPs assumed what I meant... Thanks though ...
