So here's the real...Im not good at faking when people give me gifts that I don't like. So would it be rude to skip the opening of gifts part at my shower?

Yes open the gifts at your shower, and be gracious and thankful for whatever you get (at least at the shower, you can come back here and biitch about it if you want).

I don't mind opening gifts in public but my emotions are very transparent.  I've come up with a way to ease it without making me look like an ungrateful wench. 

Pick just one little thing and enthusiastically comment on that.  Example: you get a horrendous frilly tulle pink skirt.  It's ugly but you say: "Wow it's so pink! Thank you!" Put it back in the bag and move on.  It makes the person feel like you aknowledged their gift so they focus on that.  As for you, it makes you focus on just a color (in this case) instead of the horrific item as a whole.

It would be rude not to open them in front of everyone.

If you didnt want to unwrap gifts you should have put a note in your invite about it being a green shower and please do not wrap the gifts.  this would have been your get out of jail free card but I am sure at this point your invites have been long since sent out, so yes, you need to open your gifts and seem grateful for every ugly bib and blanket you get.  Sorry, its just the right thing to do.

I am not good a faking it, so I try to think of what I can say that is true without directly addressing how I feel. 

Could you do baby-bingo where people have bingo cards for the gifts?  Then instead of feeling pressure to ooh and aww over the interesting gift some crazy aunt got you, you can just say "who has baby blanket?  anyone close to bingo" as a little distraction.

Thanks everyone! I've been bad at opening gifts my whole life and usually get away without doing it at my bday party. It kinda scares me that I won't be able to get away with it for the shower because I can't control my face lol!

 oh and to address starry again...Im 31! Dont worry Im not a kid having a kid just someone thats honest with myself and needed some tips!
