My Grandfather Passed Away

last night.  He was a huge part of my life and walked me down the isle.  My grandmother and him were married for 62 years and he was 81 years old.  I'm pretty sad but my grandmother is devastated.  She also has dementia so I'm not sure if she will have to relive the grief over and over again because she can't remember he's passed.  Does anyone have experience with this type of situation?

I don't have any experience with dementia, but I am so sorry for your loss. My grandfather was a HUGE part of my life, he died when I was 21. I actually lived with my grandmother after that to take care of her. We missed him a  ton.

My grandfather passed away at 81 when I was 15.  My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimers about 8 months before he passed away.  She was in the very early stages and really you couldn't tell.  Now a days she can barely tell who my stepdad is (sorry his parents).  It is really sad to watch her deteroate (sp) in front of him. 

All you can do for your grandmother is remind her when you see her how much she is loved and about the good memories you have with her and your grandfather.
