Who hosts Meet the Baby Party?

When I had a shower for my first daughter my best friend hosted but for my son we didn't do a shower and would like to do a Meet the Baby party soon. Can I just send out invites myself or does it need to be "thrown" by someone else?

You can throw it yourself! If it's not a gift-giving event I would just go ahead and invite people over.
