Anterior Placenta

Any ladies find out if they have an anterior placenta? The tech at our NT scan said I did. Kind of bummed and hope that I can still feel movement before 20 weeks.

I did with DD and felt little movements (although I didn't know that's what it was for sure) at around 18ish weeks. I felt kicks for sure at 20w3d. It also partially depends on how your LO is positioned. DD was transverse until about 28 weeks, and so her kicks and punches were to the sides of my AP, making it really easy to feel.

BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

I had an anterior placenta with my son. I didn't feel him until well after 20 weeks. Maybe even closer to 24. The movement I felt the entire time was also GREATLY reduced from my DD. I could go all day with feeling him. It stunk. I would have an ultrasound and he would be kicking and moving like crazy, and I wouldn't feel a thing.

Sorry, I know it isn't what you want to hear, but it is how it went for me :(

It's ok! I appreciate the honesty. Did it get better when LO got bigger? Kelly, I'm not sure where baby is I should've asked but I'm hoping s/he is positioned just right and will still be able to feel movement. Wishful thinking ;)

This was pretty much the case for me with my AP with DS.  His movements were pretty muffled until the end - though there was more definite sliding around and similar movements as he got much bigger.

On the bright side, you're less likely to be woken up by kicks in the middle of the night as baby gets bigger. ;)

I had anterior placentas with both of my kids. I definitely felt movement on the late side (20ish weeks) with both of them.

I know how you feel. LO was kicking away and I thought "I can't wait to feel that." Then she said I have AP and I was bummed out.

I had AP with my DD.  It made me nervous a lot because I didnt feel my DD as much as my sister felt my nephew move.  I am hoping this one isnt.  But at the same time the positive was that I didnt have a lot of the discomfort people talk about from feeling like a punching bag.  My baby had her own punching bag :)  I think I felt her pretty late 22ish weeks.  And even then it was pretty far in between.  Towards the end I had several non stress tests to check baby's movement cause I couldnt really feel it.  I was neat to hear all the kicks on the monitor that I wasnt feeling.  As for you babies position it will change a lot from now until the end.  They dont really pick a position until around 32 weeks when they start to get stuck.  he he...  Try and stay positive.  you have a healthy baby :)  and you will feel them move eventually and it is the neatest experience regardless.

I'm not sure about this time since I'm not having an NT scan, but I had one last time and felt the first kick at 18 weeks. Like others said, I never felt a TON of movement and I definitely didn't see a whole lot either - no little feet sticking out like I was expecting. You'll still feel it though, it's not that bad :)

I had an anterior placenta and fibroids w/ DD and still felt flutters around 14-15 weeks. I think it just made it so I didn't feel the movement as often as most people would (which caused several late pregnancy scares b/c she would go nearly a day w/o moving). I also think that, while my fibroids & placenta hid specific movements, they might have enhanced earlier ones (her tiny leg pushes on my uterus which pushes on my fibroid which brushes against me...just a theory).

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34

I have one, too. I'm not too concerned, I'll feel kicks whenever I do and it will still be great. :)

I had one with DS. They were not able to tell this time around at my NT scan? Not sure why? It did take a bit longer to feel him kick but after a while I felt him all of the time.
