Anyone make their own detergent? — The Bump
Cloth Diapering

Anyone make their own detergent?

I make my own laundry detergent. Ivory soap, borax and washing soda. Could I use these for diapers or is there a way to tweak it so I could use homemade stuff on my fluff?

Re: Anyone make their own detergent?

  • I use the same recipe for my clothing. There is a CD recipe that is: 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup borax, 1/2 cup of oxiclean. I haven't tried it but a really "big time" blog (The Eco Friendly Family) says it's great. I plan to try it once I run out of my existing supply of clothing and CD detergent (I'm using plain Tide powder right now and loving it).

  • I think is it safe,I do a hand wash wit ivory or zote without add anything else, also for diapers that got poo on it,I use a tea tree oil soap,or grapefruit.

  • We just made a batch of the Eco Friendly Family recipe last weekend since it's recommended here a lot.  It better not suck! :)

I saw this exact recipe and just made a batch for my CD's.  I hope it works!
