Gerber onsies run super small?

I opened up a pack of 0-3 month onsies and they look preemie! I was over 8 lbs and DH was too so I doubt we will even need newborn size clothes.  Does this brand just run super small? I have already opened the pack so I can't return.......guess I can always donate if we never use them.

Re: Gerber onsies run super small?

  • Yep - hated them with DD, they were always much smaller than other brands that advertised the same size range.

  • yes, and they also shrink.
  • Yeah, they run at least a size smaller than Carter's or other brands. They don't hold up as well either.

  • Yep, way smaller than other brands. If it makes you feel better, I was 8 lbs 9 oz and DH was 8 lbs 8 oz. DD was 7lbs even. We got a lot more use out of those teeny tiny onesies than I thought we would.

  • They run one size too small in width, but tend to be right on in length.

So they are perfect if you have a thin baby.

  • Yes, everything Gerber makes runs small- onsies, wash cloths, receiving blankets, etc - are all so much smaller than Carters & other brands.

  • When organizing our LO's clothes by size, I ended up putting our few Gerber onesies in the pile with similar sized Carter's ones, rather than the size on the label. Some were so tiny!

  • Yes, teeny.

However, they were perfect for DD - she was 5lb 6oz at birth, 5lb 2oz at discharge, but too long for preemie sizes. Gerber newborn sleepers were the only ones that weren't so baggy I felt they were unsafe.

  • Yeah, I didn't like Gerber onesies for that reason.  Carter's onesies are much better and true to size.

Yes - they are so so so small - I have no idea where they get their sizing from but we never used the ones we got.
