Planning my son's 1st bday

I just moved to NC and specifically the Triangle area. It's been challenging getting adjusted. I'd like some ideas or resources for a small budget, 1st bday party. One great idea I have, is to take advantage of the local museum discount day to host an outing with family and friends on his BIG day. We decided to plan the party for home and come up with a menu and activities.
