I really want to have a gender reveal cake with my immediate family and in-laws. Nothing over the top or games or anything, just the cake and maybe a bbq.
My husband is being super annoying about it and refuses to wait for the results. He wants to know the baby's gender as soon as he can at our ultrasound. I don't trust that he will be able to keep the secret, and I would much rather find out together.
Any suggestions on how to get him on board with the idea. I think it is such a fun and cute way to experience the reveal. And it is so much better than texting everyone your exciting news.
Thoughts? Thanks!
Re: Cake Gender Reveal Party
What if you compromise and find out together at the scan and then surprise family with the cake? That is what DH and I have agreed on for our parents. Tell him how upset/ hurt you would be if he started telling people.
GL!
This.
This is what we did. We found out on Wednesday and had someone pick up a cake for each family and revealed it to them that way.
My husband refuses to wait either. At first I was complete againest a gender reveal party, but we are doing it as a BBQ and more less tell people we will be announcing the sex of the baby the day of the party.
I thought about not wanting to find out and DH finding out, but I know I would be able to tell from his expression what we are having. If it's a boy, he'd be very happy, a girl, he'd still be happy, but not over the top happy.

I agree. I think it's a special moment to find out with just your DH. I wouldn't want other people to find out the same time as me and my DH.
Thanks for all the advice! I decided to tell him that we can find out together, but that I will be extremely upset if he spills the beans. We got a couples massage for Christmas that he never wants to do, so I am using the cake as leverage to compromise and get him to do that with me instead haha.
Thanks for all the wonderful advice. And shocked that everyone was in such agreement. We really are a great group!
For our family party with my son DH and found out together at the ultrasound then I made a blue cake and frosted it all white and we had our mothers cut it at the party and got great pictures of them reacting.
FWIW I really liked finding out just the two of us, it was a very special moment and I didn't want a crowd staring at us to see how we'd react.
I'm glad you have came to a solution! Yes i agree we are a great group and we all do a good job giving advice or helping eachother out on things..&that's what matter the most! I'm so happy to be a january 2013 mom!! WE ROCK!!!
