MSPI question

DD2 has been diagnosed with MSPI and I have been on the diet now for almost 3 weeks. We have finally started to see some results and she isn't nearly as fussy as she was.

However, she still has mucousy (sometimes green/brownish) stools.

How long was it until you saw your child's stools return to normal?

Re: MSPI question

  • It took about 5 weeks of me being dairy and soy free for DD2's poop to go back to normal. The pedi tested her stool at that point to make sure it was free of blood too since it previously tested positive for blood.

  • They aren't always green, but more often then not there is mucous. I even took pictures when we went to the pedi gi specialist so she could see what some of her diapers looked liked. I have also noticed that she doesn't poop as much since I have started this diet

She is still extremely gassy at night. Last night I could hear her stomach grumbling as I was nursing her before bed. She hadn't had a dirty diaper since the morning and at 2am she woke up fussing and sure enough was dirty.

  • Ugh, DD2's stomach would grumble while nursing too (and occasionally still does) - I hate that sound. It just sounds so uncomfortable. :( Give it some more time and see how things go. I ended up needing to cut nuts out too b/c I found they were causing DD2's eczema (turns out she's allergic to cashews). But her stomach grumbling also seemed to really improve after I'd been nut free, in addition to dairy and soy free.

  • It took forever!  I've known he had MPI since birth almost.  Just now his poops are returning to normal.  I have to be extremely careful to not have any dairy, even trace amount, or else we'll go back to green.  He isn't as grumpy as he used to be, but he has gross poops for awhile if I've messed up even a bit (he's fussy if I've messed up a lot).
