Crib rail guards

Does anybody use these? My little guy loves to stand in the crib and gnaw on the top rail. 

 

Has anyone made their own out of crib bumper?

I was actually talking to someone the other day who suggested this.  She said that her friend has an LO who is now chewing on the crib when they should be sleeping and she used the puffy bumpers and tied them around the top of the crib.  I think it's genius.
