A cute idea re: baby's footprints

I thought I'd share this b/c I read the idea online just a day or 2 before having DS & was so glad we did it-

When the nurse does the baby's inked footprints for the birth certificate, ask to have her put the footprints on something personal of yours.

MH wore a plain white t-shirt purposely & right after the nurse stamped the birth certificate paper, she stamped DS's footprints on MH's chest. So he proudly walked around all day with his son's footprints on his tshirt, right over his heart.

Afterwards, I put the tshirt in a shadow box with a photo of the 2 of them, DS's hospital bracelet & a pair of tiny NB Giants booties. It's a really nice keepsake!

  • That is a great idea!  I saw an idea on pinterest to make a Christmas tree ornament with LO's footprint on it, then put blue glitter all over it.  I am so making these for myself and the grandparents this year.

Very cute!  We brought our baby book with us to the hospital to have his footprints stamped on the actual page vs taping a page in the book with them.

  • Cute idea.  I took the baby book to the hospital and got them to put the prints in there as well as on a certificate that is in a scrapbook.  I'll have to remember this one for this baby.  Thanks!

  • Do you have a picture to share of the shadow box? I love the idea and would like to see some inspiration. :)

  • Love the idea!!

I am doing stepping stones for our parents each year as part of their Christmas presents.  It will have his footprint on them.  This year I will start with his Right Foot then next year I will do his Left Foot.  Put how old he is and then it will be a little timeline for them!  <-- FYI - got this off Pinterest somewhere.

I also found on pinterest to do footprints every few months on a board to see how much they grow.

Cute idea. We brought our baby book and had them stamp the pages (they actually told us to do this while taking the tour). They also stamped on a piece of paper and gave to me so I could do whatever with it.

  • This makes me so sad I can't do this because our hospital doesn't use real ink.  Sad  They now have this clear liquid that only shows up on the special paper so the baby doesn't have stained feet.  I love the ideas though, I wanted to get his feet prints stamped in my baby book but I will have to do it myself or just copy the one they give me at the hospital.

  • Wow, I really like these ideas! I will have to see if SO will do the tee shirt and I will definitely pack the baby book. Thanks!

  • We did the footprints on my H's scrub shirt.  It's in her baby box.
