Success after IF

Need to ask a TMI question ....

Sorry if this is gross, but I was going to ask my OB yesterday but my appt got rescheduled.  I thought maybe one you you could help :)

I'll start off by saying constipation sucks!  My OB suggested taking peri-colace, which does help, but it takes almost 24 hours sometimes, so I try to take it when I can plan to be home (I know, but I don't like to poop in public if I can help it Indifferent)

So I've now had two instances of this.  I've really struggled with going the bathroom, and when I wipe, I notice blood.  It's not hemroids because it's not coming from my butt.  I know TMI, sorry.  But it's about the amount of blood I'd see when I'd wipe after I'd just gone through a tampon.  And after a couple of wipes it's gone.  I have some brown blood the next one or two times I pee, but then it's gone.

It's only happened twice, when I was really struggling, so I don't think there's anything seriously wrong.  I just wanted to see if anyone had experienced this or just make me feel better that there's nothing really wrong (of course until I ask my OB at my next appt on the 18th).

Thanks girls, sorry that was long and TMI :)

  • I had one instance when I had to go really badly and kind of struggled a little bit and when I wiped, there was orange/red blood. I wiped a couple of times and it was gone. I have heard that when you are straining like that, it can cause some light bleeding and that it is nothing to worry about. Have you tried a stool softener? This might help make it easier to go.  My prenatal has one in it, which does help.

  • The blood could easily be from small tears in your anus when passing super hard stool.  Not at all uncommon during constipation.

May I recommend prune juice on a daily basis?

    Drink it super cold.

It helped me a lot more than colace.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I haven't had that happen but if it were me I would call my OB and ask about it instead of waiting for that appt.

  • That's happened to me a few times actually.  All after bowel movements... all after pushing sort hard.  I have never had very much blood.. just a spot or some pinkness.  I asked my OB about it a while ago and she said just to watch it and make sure it didn't increase.  She wasn't worried.  I really wasn't either but I wanted to ask just to make sure.
