Re: Can I just Say Jan 2013-

  • Wowza, just read all of the UO thread.... and I agree with you TRobRN. That could've gotten really ugly, really fast. This is why I don't get why people feel the need to post religious/political things on boards like this (and honestly most of us aren't here for that sort of thing in the first place, but I know keeping religion & politics off of any public forum is just too much to ask sadly), and then say things implying that theyre not looking for a debate since "we aren't going to change each other's minds" .... umm YES YOU ARE, clearly you were asking for it. Why else would you make that post? At least it was done with class!

That being said, I love this board & genuinely care about the women on here, particularly all of the regular posters that I feel I've gotten  to "know," no matter what their religious/political beliefs are. :-)

Aww I care about you too Laura :).

Idk if I am considered a regular poster as I usually just chime in on occasion but I feel way closer to you ladies than I did with my April board for my son. A few of you ladies I would really enjoy getting to know IRL. Hopefully I can get a good labor buddy and get to know her well.

  • Agreed! I only post sometimes as well but I really like that everyone is calm and allows others to have their own opinions :) And ya'll are super helpful!

I'm sure we will have our moments throughout these months but so far I am amazed and so happy to be a part of this board!

  • I post on Jan 2013, more then any other board on the Bump. I agree with all of you that I think we have a pretty civil group here.

Although I don't post on the drama/MUD threads, I must admit I do like to read them.

I totally agree! While I don't post here often cause I'm straddling the Dec/Jan border, I have started more often cause I like this group of ladies a little better. Everyone is so nice and helpful!

Um... that isnt really fair to say... then I guess we shouldnt have the UO thread? Is that supposed to be strictly baby related? My OP was my UO.... I didnt say anything close to I want to change peoples minds on a public forum today... that wuold be silly.

I will say that I love this group of ladies and I love that we can have a discussion and keep it so respectful. I am seriously impressed!

I'm sorry, mrsodonnell... looking back on what I wrote, I did not phrase what I was trying to say very well. (That's what I get for writing something that serious so early in the morning! Haha)  The "yes you are" was not referring to trying to change people's minds. What I was trying to say was that by writing over & over "well we aren't going to change each other's minds" when you responded to people, I felt like you were trying to shut down the conversation, and I don't think that's fair to do. When you post something political or religious in a public forum, you have to know that you're going to be challenged/debated, even if it's in the UO or FFFC thread. Maybe I was misinterpreting what you meant by that phrase? That's the thing about the internet, it's hard to know what someone means by something when you don't physically hear them say it.

And while I don't think everything on this board has to be strictly baby-related, I think many (or even most) women do not come here with the intention of being drawn into a political, religious or other moral debate. While I respect everyone's opinions and their right to express them, I just personally wish we could keep the tone of the board lighter than that. But as I said before I know that can be unrealistic, and overall I think this group does a fantastic job of maintaining a positive tone & keeping things here kind & respectful... which is why this is the only board I actively post on. Most of the other boards aren't so lucky. You guys are just awesome like that! :-)
