Name someone else's kid

My dad was named by his aunt.

My sister, who is not pregnant, asked me "If you could name my next kid, what would you call him/her?" I joked and said Keri/Kerry is a unisex name.

How would you chose a name for someone else's kid?

I'm glad my sister didn't let me name her kid. I would have picked Kairi because I was a dorky teenager. She went with Kylie, much better! lol

I would pick a name that I like on others' kids but that is NMS or something that doesn't match the style of my own kids' names. That way I wouldn't feel regret over not using it on one of my own kids.

It would depend on that friends style and the name of siblings (if there are any).

I totally could do this. I'd use a name I love but can't use bc it doesn't sound right with my last name. I so would love for my SIL to use Blair, June, or Ivy.

I would LOVE to name other peoples' kids....especially my nieces and nephews! For my brother and his wife I would use a few names that are in my DH's family (that's why we won't use them) but I LOVE them. On DH's side...I like all the names well enough, but I have so many names swimming around my head that I'd love for more of them to be used. There are names of co-workers or my good friend's children that I love the names, won't repeat them for us, but would gladly pass them along for others to enjoy.

The real question is....Who would you let name your own children?

That is a great question... I guess since my kids are named after other family members, I've let those parents decide my kids names; I still chose which names though. Not many people share my naming style. That's a great question.

I'm a control freak so I don't think I could relinquish that responsibility....I do have a few friends that I pump for name ideas and bounce my ideas off of...They would probably be the only ones I would remotely consider. Even though I love my name...I definitely would not pick my Mom, lol.
