Parenting after a Loss

My vagina has to go to physical therapy

So, after 8 months of not being able to have sex with DH (some of you may recall my previous posts on the topic), I finally have a diagnosis: vaginismus.  I had another appointment with my OB earlier this week, and although I still don't think he really believes me that it is happening, he finally referred me to a pelvic floor specialist.  I met her today and she was great.  I have another appointment in two weeks for vagina physical therapy.  I hope it is not as horrific as it sounds.  Surprise

But at this point, I'm willing to try about anything to solve the problem and rescue my marriage.

GL! I'm glad you have a plan though. You are probably going to use these different size dilators that look like dildos. I read an article about vaginismus a while back. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Yeah, that is one of the treatments.  They also use a range of other things including electric shock therapy.  Surprise

LOL, it is involuntary muscle spasms of your vagina/pelvic floor that make penetration by anything painful and impossible.

That sounds like it could go one of two ways.  Lots of fun, or painful.

I remember that article too- I can't remember where it's from.

BTW- am I the only one wondering what you major in at college to be a vagina physical therapist? And what is the job title and description you'd use on your resume?

  • Wow, I hope that isn't as bad as it sounds BUT I'm glad you're trying something and I really hope it turns around for you quickly. That's such a hard thing to deal with on top of becoming new parents. Hugs.

  • I am glad that you have a diagnosis and a plan for action - that alone has to feel good (no nookie pun intended).

I have every confidence that your coochie coach is going to help get you back in form quickly! (all relevant puns intended)

I was headed for similar things, I suspect, but we were finally able to DTD recently -- 9.5 months after delivery -- without my being in significant pain.  That's now happened all of once, but I'm hoping things continue to improve, as they will for you as well.  ((Hugs))

I have a good friend who went to PT for her vagina/pelvic floor after her 2nd and recently had a 3rd (3y later), so it can certainly work if she went on to get pregnant again. Hope it works as well for you (though it resulting in another pregnancy till you want it).
