DD has been going to a center for the last five months. She was at an in-home for a year before that. I do not like the teachers at her school and each time I have voiced a concern it has been met with an eye roll and the director's dismissal. The only reason I have not pulled her is because I can't find a center that will take a part-timer under 2. We had one center down the street from us we were considering moving her to as soon as her birthday comes around. I looked their report rating up this morning and they were hit with almost every single flag. I am disgusted and seriously considering opening my own in-home dc. Has anyone else had this experience? Am I expecting too much out of the dc? Every time I drop her off and pick her up the teachers are sitting on the floor talking to each other. The other kids are off on their own. It makes me sick.
Re: Are there ANY good daycare centers out there??!
I'm pretty happy w/ my daycare.
PT care for under 2 is tough though b/c the state mandates that each child must have their own crib.
I wouldn't say most daycares are at the top of their game at the end of the day - and I certainly see the teachers chatting with each other while the kids play nearby during pick up, that's never bothered me as long as no one's being neglected and they are all engaged in something.
ETA - if the director is dismissing your complaints and especially eyerolling you . .. I'd be upset.
That really sucks and you shouldn't have to put up with that. My center is awesome, but its in AA County.....Also its probably next to impossible to find a center that will do part time for under two.
I hope you find a good solution.
