I am a high school teacher and just got access to my student lists this week. I was looking through tonight and found some interesting ones.
Here are the ones I'm not sure about pronunciation.
Hali (pronounced like Haley?)
Kila (pronounced like ?)
Khaleah (pronounced like Kailey or ka-lee-ah?)
Here are the bad spellings.
Alix
Kamryn
Kourtnee
Madisyn
Alexzander
Re: Interesting names on my class list.
yikes! why!?
Wow!! I have an awful one on my list that I am afraid to post here because I'm afraid the kid will google his name and find the post. Lets put it this way...it's Jeremy, but misspelled so it is actually pronounced "germy". Nuff said!!
All of the normal spellings were already taken.
I have a lot of respect for teachers that have to learn how to pronounce certain names and then remember youneek spellings.
1/12/13 DD was born
4/9/16 DS was born
9/17 CP
6/23/18 BFP EDD 3/4/19
Hali- I'd probably pronounce like "Halle".
Kila- It's a legit name, pronounced "Kee-la".
Khaleah- Wtf? I'd call her "Kah-lee-ah", too.
The misspelled ones are terrible. Poor kids.
Well, this student is a girl so we will see if that is the legit name that they were going for or if it is some random spelling for some other pronunciation. I would tend to pronounce it with a long "i" sound instead of the long "e".
Seriously? As someone from the great city of Madison, Wisconsin, I take personal offense to this spelling. Gross.
My name is Alix (short for Alexis). My parents were told waaaay back in the 70's that was the "girl" way to spell Alex. I have actually met a few other Alix's in my life, but not a ton. FWIW both my parents graduated from Duke and then went on to get masters and law degrees. This was not a case of not being able to spell.
