I was reading F the golden book Three Little Kittens tonight. At first I thought it was crazy that mommy kitten was calling them "naughty" for doing petty things. Then I came across this page.

We sure live in different times. You'd never see a mom wacking her kid across the butt while the other kids are in the corner crying from their recent spanking. I looked for the copyright date. 1949. Different times my friends!

Re: Different times (pip)
That's actually a nursery rhyme. So, it's even older than that.
I teach my kindergarteners that one.
That is interesting to me. I am fascinated by old children's literature. I have a very old book called "Peep of the Day" that is supposedly written for babies, and it details how a body would be crushed if a "cart" fell on it and stuff like that. It is pretty odd, but was a very popular book!
