3 Months Old ... Feeding Problem

My son is formula fed and up until maybe 3 weeks ago, he was taking 6 oz. each feed. Now, when he eats A.) It's a fight to get 4 oz in him, if I am lucky 5 oz.  and B.) He takes a couple sips, then buries his head in my chest like he doesn't want it.

His feeding times used to be average i.e. 20 - 35 minutes. Now it can take an hour to get the 4 or 5 oz. in him.

I haven't chaged his formula and I am following his hunger signs, it's not like I am trying to cluster feed him too soon together.

Anyone have this problem? He's gaining weight still, I don't know...

Re: 3 Months Old ... Feeding Problem

  • Maybe you should see/call a doc? My DD has never had a problem taking down a bottle, but her daycare said she wasn't as interested in it the last two days, and sure enough the doc said she has thrush, so it's probably hurting a little when she swallows... Maybe check his mouth for while spots? I don't know, just an idea!

  • Maybe try a faster flow nipple.  My son was doing the same thing and going up in nipple size helped.
