DD at bottom of the crib..Help Please...

So we just switched DD from sleeping in a bassinet to her crib (she is 11wks), this morning I woke up to find her all the way at the other end of her crib looking very uncomfortable (she was also crying).  this makes me uncomfortable for a few reasons, but mostly because she is not sleeping soundly through the night...any thoughts or ideas on how to confine her to one spot.  Thanks!

  • I wouldn't assume it's the crib or that she's uncomfortable.  You cannot "confine" a mobile baby to one spot, nor would you want to.

    Give it more time.

  • Few things: My DD does not sleep through the night yet...

You can try to swaddle her or put her in a sleeper PJ. DD scoots all over the crib in her sleeper. You can not 'confine' her to part of a crib. Babies do wake up crying sometimes.

Do you have a monitor on in the room? When you hear her cry, go check on her and move her to a position that looks more comfortable.

  • As long as her limbs aren't caught between the slats, I'm sure she's fine.  My DS moves all around.  In fact this morning I woke to find him upside down in his crib and up against the rail.  I don't know how they do it and it doesn't look comfy to me, but he always seems fine.

BTW, my DS was so quiet last night that I never even heard him move.  I'm sure she is sleeping fine.  She will cry and let you know if she's uncomfortable or in pain.  My only rec would be to buy a breathable bumper to avoid her limbs getting caught in the slats.

  • My DD STTN in her crib (normally at least 10 hours).  She sleeps very soundly and loves her crib.  If she ever sleeps with us, she wakes several times, but not in the crib.

Every night I put her at one end, and every morning, i find her squished up against the top of the crib.  She's not always crying, most of the time she's talking to herself, so obviously she's not unhappy there.

Give it time.  Your baby is learning to move, he/she (can't remember which) don't need to be kept in one spot.

  • thanks ladies!!  i think i am going to try to put her down without being swaddled and hope she doesnt wake herself up by hitting herself!
