A question about food dislikes

I'm not an overly picky eater, but there are some things that I just really can't stand.  On my list of foods I hate are sweet potatoes and squash.  I gag when I so much as smell them, let alone taste them.  That being said, I know a lot of other people like these foods and they are very healthy, so I'm trying to include these things in DS's diet.  I know they are good for him, and I don't want him to be influenced by my personal likes and dislikes.  My question is, are any of you feeding your LO's foods that you personally dislike?

  • yep... i don't like avocado and we have fed it to him. turns out he doesn't care for it either, but we do mix it in occasionally.

i also haven't cared for peaches or nectarines in the past but found that when i made them for him, my tastes have changed a bit.

  • I am an extremely picky eater and I really hope I don't pass it onto her. I am definitely giving her things that I don't eat myself, and luckily so far she likes pretty much everything and the only thing she has denied is avocado. I really hope she is a good eater like her daddy.

  • I definitely am.  I am what most people call an extremely picky eater and hate it.  I am hoping that by introducing DS to a lot of different kinds of foods early on he will not develop my habits.  My DH hates how picky I am so he is very determined to have his little man eat more like him.  (I don't eat seafood at all and he is dying to have someone that wants to go out for fish!). So far he eats everything we offer him very well so I hope that he continues to be open to new things.  (He already likes yogurt, avocado, and peas, which are all things I hate.)

I'm not an overly picky eater either. We feed DD a variety of fruits and veggies. So far the only thing that she flat out refuses to eat are peas...I don't blame her, peas is one of few foods I loathe....we will keep trying though.

  • DH and I aren't really picky eaters.  The one thing I really don't like is any sort of fish/seafood (DH doesn't care for it either).  LO isn't quite ready for that yet, but when the time comes, I plan to introduce him to it.  In the summer, my FIL goes fishing a lot, and they usually have fresh salmon...we'll start with that.

We're still adding new fruits/veggies to LO's diet, but so far we haven't had any "misses".  I can tell he really doesn't like peas, but he eats them (making faces at me the whole time).  I think it may be the texture he doesn't like.  I make my own baby food...peas are hard to smooth out!

  • She doesn't really seem to like much of anything yet, but we keep offering new things. DH is extremely picky, and while I do eat a variety I only really like a handful of veggies. So far, we have offered her- avocado, watermelon, and broccoli as things I don't eat.

  • We aren't picky at all so everything she's had is something we would eat. The only miss so far is barley cereal. I don't blame her as barley is a strong flavour (imo).
