The hospital in our town is moving to a new building. On August 25th, they are going to pack everyone in the hospital into ambulances and within a couple of hours, have them in the new location!! So obviously, I'm hoping to NOT be in labor anytime near that date!
Anyway, I found out tonight through a friend that the new mom gift that they're giving out at the new hospital is a brand new Vera Bradley diaper bag filled with some bath & body works goodies!! So much more exciting than the fluffy white bathrobe I got at the old hospital 1.5 years ago!! [It was actually a very nice robe, kind of like you'd see at a fancy hotel/spa... but not my style. I never use it!] Does anyone else know of their hospital giving "gifts" like these?
Re: Hospital gift
Hahah... yeah I'm wondering how much of my "gifts" are built into the bills they send us! I got some diapers, they offered formula, but I said I'd rather some extra ice packs for my bottom! Haha.
Oh, and we just received a bill a few weeks ago from DD birth - when she was 17 months old!! I was mad because we asked right upfront - what the "final price" was going to be - and paid it before leaving the hospital. (We were told about their early payoff discount, where you got a discount for paying it off within the first ten days, and we figured if we went home without paying it off we might forget before the ten days were up). So I thought we were done.
Then a year and a half later, this other bill came. I looked at the list of charges, and I think almost $2,000 was listed as "nursery." I thought that was interesting seeing as how DD NEVER left my sight the entire time we were in the hospital, so she never took a breath even NEAR the nursery! The other things were her vitamins/hearing test/ect. After insurance though, it was under $200 for us, so DH just paid it online, and I never got the chance to call and complain!
Wow! That is nice.
When my DD was born 4 years ago, I left with the free Similac diaper bag and a couple of pairs of mesh panties and a small handful of diapers. I asked for extra ice pack pads but they could only give me 2 because they were almost out of them and they weren't getting a new shipment for a few days.
I got a branded insulated mug and some diapers.
We were told not to take any of the receiving blankets, but there was no way I was leaving that hospital without the first blanket ever wrapped around my little boy.
Do you happen to live in NWI? If so I know what hospital you're talking about and I'm jealous I'm not giving birth there. LOL.
lol. Ditto this except for the pack of diapers.
