Anyone move to one nap before 1st bday?

I really think the girls are ready to do one nap.  I was home alone with them last weekend and they were perfectly happy around 9:30 when they usually go down so I thought I'd see what happened.  They slept from 11 to 1:30 and did fine the rest of the day until their normal 7 bedtime. I tried to do it the next day but dh was on the fence and convinced me they were tired at 9:30.

They aren't napping well at either nap and getting them down for their normal 1:30 to 2ish nap is getting harder and harder. Most days it ends up being 3 p.m. and then I will only let them sleep an hour b/c I don't want them to stay up too late.

  • We've been using 1 nap a day on DS since about the 9 month mark. However, if he's tired we "allow" him to sleep.

  • DD put herself on one nap a day around 9 months or so. However, it's a nice long solid nap usually from 12-3ish, sometimes even more. Her pedi was fine with it as she is  hitting all milestones well, always acts well rested, never is cranky from lack of sleep, and also sleeps around 12 hours a night. I think I just lucked out with her being an easy and great sleeper.

Thanks ladies.  I think we could get a long good nap if we just went to one.  I guess we'll just give it a try.

  • I thought DD was ready around that time, but DS wasn't and I wanted to keep them on the same schedule. Once she started walking and running around, she really needed two naps. We are on 2 naps still at 16 months.  DD is starting to only "rest" at one of the naps again though, so I think she is going to be ready soon. DS still isn't....I think he just wears himself out because he NEVER stops moving, ha!

  • We've been on one good nap for a few months.  One or both sometimes falls asleep in the afternoon in the car or stroller, but if we're at home they rarely take the second nap.

We do have a really early bed time.
