Pampers smell like chemicals?

I am using pampers swaddlers. I noticed I can tell everytime ds pees because his diaper lets off a very strong chemical smell. Ive tried huggies and havent had a problem. Anyone else have this problem with pampers?

Re: Pampers smell like chemicals?

  • Madelyn was getting super red everywhere the pampers covered her, and this didn't happen as much with the huggies.  She is in cloth now, and I love it!

  • My DH can smell it, but I can't.

  • Had DS in swaddlers for the first 2 weeks before switching over to cloth. Every time I would even walk into his room I could smell the chemicals from those diapers. yuck

  • Yep, exactly same here....swaddlers, DS pees, smells like chemicals.  His skin is perfect though so I see no reason to change.  I change his diaper as soon as I smell him, or notice he's pretty wet.  If he's just a tiny bit wet it doesn't smell.

  • I could smell the chemicals in Pampers even when they weren't peed in. I was so happy to get her home & into cloth!

  • That's because it's stuffed full of chemicals. Luvs did the same for us with DS1. I'm loving the switch to cloth.

  • Like a few PPs mentioned, we use cloth and love it! For nights, though, we use Seventh Generation disposables and really love that they contain no petroleum based lotions, are chlorine free, and are not made with latex. They also haven't leaked yet!
