Medela PISA users - question for you

I had to put 9 oz bottles onto my Medela when I pump.  Now that I am back at work, I pump 7 oz from each side the the 5 oz bottles weren't cutting it anymore.

Is it just me or do the 9 oz bottles not provide as much suction?  I do still use the 5 oz ones that came with it at night since I don't pump as much breastmilk at that time.  It just seems there is more suction with the smaller bottle.  I even have the dial turned all the way up when I use the bigger bottles.

Does anyone else ever experience this if you use bigger bottles?   I just hope it doesn't cause my supply to decrease.

Re: Medela PISA users - question for you

  • At home I use 8 oz glass bottles to pump into and the 5 oz. plastic bottles when I'm at work. I never noticed a difference and I always use the same suction/speed setting.

Are you pumping hands free? If so, maybe the extra weight of the larger bottles is reducing suction.

  • hmm... no, I've never noticed less suciton with different sized bottles.

  • I just bought the 9 oz Gerber bottles.  As long as they are small neck bottles they work.
