Anybody have a baby who is not yet crawling but able to eat puffs?
We tried them with DD and she spits them back out. I just don't think she's ready for them yet. She's not crawling, either. I really wanted to give them to her for practice with hand-eye coordination and for practice using her pinchers.
I am thinking about trying watermelon chunks tomorrow, but I'm worried she won't even try to chew.
Any advice?
Re: Puffs
No advice but DS is not crawling and he LOVES puffs. He hasn't quite mastered the hand-eye coordination (he grabs them but rarely manages to get them in his mouth). He gets all excited when he even sees the container. I just end up putting them in his mouth (or he puts his mouth to my hand/the floor wherever they are and gets them that way haha).
Have you tried other flavors? It could be the taste more than anything? DS has had the banana, sweet potato and blueberry flavors. He's liked them all but I'd say the sweet potato were his favorite. There are also those ones that look sort of like cheetos maybe to try?
As far as the watermelon- do you have one of those fresh food feeders? I've given DS it in there. Otherwise what I've done is actually just give him the whole slice (or hold it to his mouth) and let him suck on it. He loves to get the juice and will gum off (no teeth yet) some of the fruit as well.
Good luck!
We have only tried the sweet potato flavor. I honestly think it's a texture thing. She's just not used to having something solid in her mouth yet. We've only done purees at this point.
I want to get a mesh feeder. I am going to put that on my shopping list for this weekend.
Harry refuses to crawl, but has been enjoying puffs since about 6 months I think. It took him a bit to get the hang of them but loves them now. He's pretty good at eating them but a lot do end up on the floor too.
We've tried watermelon and he wouldn't chew it at first. Well, he would I guess, but didn't swallow. That took a little longer to get the hang of I think b/c it doesn't melt like the puffs.

DS isn't crawling and he LOVES puffs. He's been eating them for about a month now.
It's possible that she just doesn't like the texture.
DS loves puffs. We've been giving them to him for about a month now. First we just split them in half and fed them to him. Now I just put a few on his highchair and he'll try to feed himself. It's really good practice for picking things up. He can get a few in his mouth but is still working on his pincer grasp. Right now we kind of picks them up with his fist and shoves his fist in his mouth.
I'm sure it's just a texture thing with your LO brandywine, I'd try it again in a couple of weeks.
