So I know that as of August 1st all insurance companies will be required to cover the cost of breast pump rental fees once your insurance plan renews on or after that date.
My due date is Aug. 17th and after that date I will be adding both DS and DH to my insurance. Will this count as my plan renewing or will I have to wait until January? Please save me from having to call Anthem BCBS.

Adding your DH & DS to the plan does not count as the plan renewing. That is only considered a life status change.
The plan renewal is when your Company's health benefits renew (i.e. - open enrollment). So if your Company's Open Enrollment is in December with changes becoming effective January 1st, than January 1st is the start of the plan year.

Yeah, that's what I found out when I booked my annual exam on August 2 in hopes of getting it paid for. Not til 2013
Oh, and if you do call your insurance, you might get this (incredibly unhelpful) response: "Please allow more time for information concerning this benefit. YOu will be notified by mail of any upcoming changes in your plan. " I have BCBS too, and that was their response to my email asking if it started on August 1.
