Prenatal vitamin overdose = really scary morning!

So im officially 12 weeks today! Everyone knows now and ive luckily been feeling really great for my entire  first trimester. This morning i stupidly took 2 prenatal vitamins, and on an empty stomach. My body let me know within abiut 20 minutes that this was not a good idea. I got very faint, light headed, cold sweat and metallic taste in my mouth. A bout an hour later i threw up (4 times) at work and then felt a little better. Made the mistake of going outside where the heat was just too much to handle. I got dizzy again, went back inside and threw up again. My work semt me home and was very nuce about it, luckily. But my stomach has been and still is killing me. I get a very severe twinging pain in my stomach every couple minutes. The doctor said it will pass and its just the vitamins way of passing throughnmynsystem. She said it will not harm the baby but it still worries me. Anyone every been through this before??

  • I'm sure it has happened before and I'm sure if your doctor says you'll be fine, you'll be fine!

If I've ever accidentally taken 2 (I think it happened one time because I forgot when i took it a couple minutes before) I didn't have any issues. But I also take my vitamins before I go to bed.

Did you eat at all during this time? Or drink more water?

    This!

Of course it's not a good thing to get too much of vitamins/minerals, but I seriously doubt that doubling your dose one time will do any real harm.

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

  • Does your pill have dha in it? Probably what made you so sick. If not, I don't know. I've mistakenly taken 2 before- 1 in the morning, 1 at night. I definitely wouldn't call it an overdose.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

  • I took them both this morning at the same time, stupidly, and with no food. Just not a good situation for my stomach. Hoping my stomach pain is because of the pills and not a coincidental timing of something, god forbid, bad happening

  • Yeah, dha makes me really sick. I can't take it in pill form.

I have accidentally taken more than one in a day. It happens. No biggy. It's not an over dose.

As an Addictions Counselor major I'm giggling at the idea of a vitamin overdose off two pills but I hope you feel better. I have to take mine with food or they make me nauseous.
