Using the bassinet part of the Pack'n'Play

Anyone using the bassinet part of their Pack'n'Play to have your baby sleep in your bedroom the first few weeks?

I pulled out our Pack'n'Play last night and set-up the bassinet.  I am so paranoid I am not doing it right but everything seemed to be tight but I still was expecting it to be a little less wobbly.  I had planned to use it for the baby in our bedroom for at least the first couple weeks.  I assume a lot of people do - anyone else using it for this purpose?  Do you feel it is secure enough?

  • Yes, we plan to use it in our bedroom, but we haven't set it up yet (the plan is to do it this weekend), so I can't speak to whether or not it feels secure.

  • I will be using it for just that (first month or so), except it'll be downstairs in our family room when we're spending time there.  We got the Chicco Lullaby LX and the bassinet seems pretty sturdy with added bars for support.

We have an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper in our room.

  • We just set up ours too in the bedroom, and were intending to use it for the same purposes, and it feels wobbly to me too! One of my friends got it for me and I'm pretty sure it was like the cheapest one in the store so that's probably why (not the deluxe Graco one I registered for of course but beggers can't be choosers). When you think about it though, it's not like a newborn weighs that much anyway, and we won't be keeping him in there past maybe 15 pounds so it should be fine (I think it's rated for 30 lbs)

  • yep, we are.  its right next to my bed so I can just sit up and reach for baby.  Ours isn't wobbly, seems to be very secure.

  • We are using a bassinet in our room for nights, but we spend a majority of our time in the living room, so we've set the pack n play bassinet up in there to use during the day and before bedtime. Ours seems secure.

  • We're using the bassinet part of our PnP in our bedroom as well. I used one with DS, and it worked perfectly.

  • Yes, we are doing this.  We set ours up (and have since taken down until we get closer) and it was super sturdy feeling.  We have metal bars that run the length of the bassinet, but I know some models don't, perhaps that is the difference.

Happy thoughts to all! BabyFruit Ticker
  • We are using this and did for DS too.  The top is "wobbly," but not in an insecure way.  I liked it because I could rock him a bit to help him fall asleep. Not sure if that's the purpose of it being that way or not.
