Need your honest opinion ladies!

I had one of my baby showers this past Sunday and received a lot of things LO won't be needing for awhile or things I specifically didn't register for because I knew it wasn't the brand I wanted or that it wasn't safe for LO to have.So what would you do with a bunch of things that are for 3 years and up? I was thinking about bringing them back to target and getting a store credit and then getting things that were on my registry. (I hardly got anything from my registry) which is fine I do appreciate everything I did get I just don't LOVE the idea of storing some of these things for the next 2-3 years until LO can use them :/  I'd rather have things I know she'll need right away.

I just don't want to be rude by returning items.

What are your thoughts??

  • No one will know the difference. Get what you need.

Just keep in mind that you may be buying that stuff again one day though...

You do exactly that.  Ruder than returning is buying someone a bunch of crap for 3+ year old kids when they're having their first baby.  WTF?

If Target won't take it, Walmart takes almost anything.  You could at least get diapers and necessities that way.

  • while i'm all for returning things so that you can get more immediately useful stuff, my concern with returning stuff is always whether the gifter will be around your house and wonder where their gift is?

personally, i'd probably be exchanging things because we have little space to store stuff. but if i had the space, i'd probably keep it. you'll be happy to have the stuff later (unless it's not safe... that's a whole different story)

  • Nobody will know if you return things.

however, Target only allows $70.00 per person per year in returns without receipts.  So, you may not be able to return that much and get store credit.

  • I would definitely return things if you have gift receipts and can exchange for credit.

  • No one will know the difference, return what you want to. Keep in mind that you don't just want NB and 0-3 stuff. Considering getting things up to 12 months so you aren't having to go back to the store several times this upcoming year.

  • Id also return/exchange it. Target is a pita with returns w/o receipt. I wonder if you can add it to your registry mark it bought and then they would take it back w/o receipt...just a thought!

  • I agree with everyone else.  I'd return it and get the stuff you will actually need and use.

  • It's not rude to return items you don't need.  Honestly, if they're for 3 and up, it's not like the gifters are going to remember they got such-and-such dress and why haven't they seen it on little pumpkin yet? in 3 years anyway.  Just take the stuff you don't need/want back and write nice thank-you-notes, and everyone is happy :)

  • I would most definitely be returning that stuff and getting what I need. Especially with it being for a much older toddler, no one will know/remember when it comes time for LO to need it.
