Has anyone does this yet? Or have you used it with any other food?
MY LO is into food. I'd like to give her something while we eat. Poor thing just sits there and stares at us during dinner while we all chow down... it's a little sad.

I haven't the only thing we have put in there so far are ice cubes for his teeth, but that is brilliant idea! I have been thinking of putting a banana chunk in there and seeing how it goes. Avocadoes are good and squishy, so that would be a good one!
What is the point of the mesh feeder? I get they can't choke on something in it, but why use it? Someone clue me in!
I don't know? I forgot I had one ( it was a gift). I guess something to put in her mouth and get a small taste of some foods without my help. I'm sure it will end up on the floor.

I think that's the whole point; they can't choke on it. I usually let DD hold and chew on hers while I do something like washing dishes or doing laundry. I think the texture of the mesh also helps her with teething. And I think when she gets used to the flavor of something through the mesh feeder, she seems to like it better when we try it with a spoon. Because usually the taste and the texture are both new but with this, only the texture is new.

That is the point; it prevents them from choking on things. It's a worry-free way to let them independently chew and play with something new. A friend of mine use to put grapes in hers. Frozen grapes is a good thing for teething too.

We've done bananas, watermelon, and peeled apples. DS LOVES it. He can hold it himself, get the taste and nutrients from the fruit, and I don't have to worry about him choking. I usually give it to him while we're eating to occupy himself.
We tried avocado yesterday. I mashed it up, put some formula in and mixed it to try to make it more of a puree consistency. DD1 wasn't impressed and DD2 hated it. She threw up/spit out all of it after a few spoonfuls, then I gave her some banana and then H decided to try another spoonful of avocado and she shared it all back with us. I was really surprised, they've been great with every new food we've tried. I wonder if it's just that she's used to purees, or if it's the taste she doesn't like.

I mashed up avocado with a tiny bit of water and she loved it. I feel like avocado and banana is too mushy for the mesh thing but I also hate washing it out.
We also just got a highchair so we give her a few spoonfuls as we eat,we feel less guilty that way as she stares us down!
We skipped cereals and went right to purees (but mainly just to try new flavors and hopefully lessen the likelihood that our LO will develop allergies). Right now she has about 1/2 of a jar of veggies a night, with about 1/2 of that ending up on her bib/hands/face! She hasn't had any fruits yet (figured we would start with the veggies to hopefully allow her to like those first, before introducing the awesome-tasting fruit). We have done some frozen puree chunks and frozen BM in the mesh feeder, mainly to help with teething pain. But I am excited to try grapes/apples/melons etc in the mesh feeder after we introduce fruits!
For those above that have used your mesh feeder, are you already doing cereal or purees?
I actually started with the mesh feeder for a week. He got either a little banana or watermelon once a day for 4-5 days. The following week we started homemade pur?es. We skipped cereal all together.
